Abstract
The purpose of the research is to know kinds of reinrocement for adult learners needs and to find out the dominant reinforcement to increase speaking ability at Lintasan Imajinasi Bahasa Mahasiswa (LIBAM) State Islamic Institute of Parepare. The result of the study are beneficial for instructors and members because they will get information about reinforcement that members of LIBAM need to increase speaking ability and learning process. The samples of the study were 57 new members of LIBAM using purposive sampling technique. The researcher conducted the research in Quantitative Method approach. The data was collecting using questionnaire. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that in generally, members of LIBAM as adult learners need reinforcement in their learning English especially of speaking. The reinforcement that they need to motivate them in learning. It will more enjoy and interest to always learn in speaking. The findings of the research problem, the researcher found the kinds of reinforcement that the instructors used to the members of LIBAM used in learning especially speaking consisted of 6 reinforcement. There are Verbal Reinforcement, Gestural Reinforcement, Proximity Reinforcement, Contact Reinforcement, Activity Reinforcement, and Token Reinforcement. The researcher found that the dominant reinforcement that members of LIBAM needs to increase speaking was activity reinforcement, it refered from the providing learning materials and leading games.
