Abstract

Perception is gathering information through 5 senses, experience, and understanding of something. This research focused on students’ perception toward extensive reading. The researcher was intended to know what are the students' perception toward extensive reading to improve reading skill at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Parepare. This research used quantitative design by using descriptive-survey method. There were 72 second-grade students from SMA Negeri 1 parepare in attendance. The researcher used total sampling and took 72 respondents as the sample of this research. The researcher gave the questionnaire which is consisted of 25 item to respondents to fine the data as accurate about the students’ perception in extensive reading. The final result that the researcher found about the students' perception toward extensive reading to improve reading skill was very strong perception. The teacher implement according to the principles of extensive reading and the students improve their reading skill. The students enjoy and relax in extensive reading class.
