Abstract

Teachers who do multitasking in teaching can have an impact or influence on the focus of teachers and students in the learning process. This study aims to find out whether multitasking carried out by teachers has an influence on teacher performance in teaching and also on students' understanding in understanding the material taught by teachers who do multitask in the learning process. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach with data collection instruments using observation and interviews. The research sample consisted of 3 teachers in 3 different classes and 11 students from 3 classes taught by each teacher. The data analysis technique is using kualitatif descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) The multitasking carried out by the teacher while teaching in the classroom can be categorized as having little impact on teacher performance in teaching. (2) There is an impact of teachers multitasking and students understanding the material explained by the teacher in learning English.In addition, it can be found that there are some disadvantages and advantages, one while the disadvantages are in multitasking in the learning process, namely when a teacher multitasks while teaching some teachers are less focused on discussing the material being taught which makes students not focus on receiving material while the advantage is that the teacher can streamline his time. in teaching so that the teacher can carry out other activities.
