Abstract
The researcher was aimed to see is there any significant influence of using authentic material toward students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of MA DDI Kanang. The result of the research can be useful for the teacher and students. The teacher can understand that using authentic materials can make their students more interesting when they study English. The design in this research was quantitative descriptive. This research used questionnaire and reading test as the way to gained score. The subject of the research are the students from some class which is consisted 20 students. The sample was taken by using random sampling. The result of calculating scores between students’ interest in using authentic materials and students’ reading comprehension, r-value = -9.392 higher than (α) 5%, r-table -0.444, (r-value ≥ r-table). So it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation both of them. The calculation result of simple linear equation (Y = 464.84) shows the number of regression coefficients, it explains that the students’ interest using authentic materials (X) has a positive effect toward students’ reading comprehension (Y). It concluded that there is a significant influence of students’ interest in using authentic materials on students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of MA DDI Kanang.
