Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia had a huge impact on the world of education, so the government has made a policy to replace teaching and learning activities that were initially carried out in schools, with online-based learning that is carried out in their respective homes. This new system caused a lot of difficulties. Teaching Difficulties is a condition where a teacher cannot teach normally due to threats. Obstacles or disturbances during the teaching and learning Process. The method that researcher used in this research is Qualitative with descriptive approach, The aim of this study to examine the teachers’ difficulties in teaching English at the second grade of SMAN 2 Parepare. The respondents of the study were two English teachers’ and head master. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation.Data analysis techniques used with collection data, reduction data, displaying data, conclusion, and verification. After doing research and based on the result of research that have been carried out by researchers regarding the teachers’ difficulties in teaching English at SMAN 6 Pinrang the researcher found out there are 8 difficulties by English teachers at SMAN 6 Pinrang. They are namely, 1.) Difficult to apply online learning, 2.) Difficult to control students through online, 3.) Its difficult to be interactive in learning process,4.) Difficult to give an assessment,5.) Limited Facilities and infrastructure, 6.) Network problem,7.) Difficult in using digital media technology,8.) Unlimited working hours and spending more money.
