Abstract

The objectives of this research are to: 1) determine the level of cognitive readiness of teachers, 2) determine the level of physical readiness of teachers, 3) determine the level of psychological readiness of teachers, and 4) determine the level of financial readiness as an indicator of teachers' readiness to implement the independent curriculum in Vocational High Schools in Wajo. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. There are three English teachers implementing the independent curriculum in English classes as the research subjects. Data are obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data are then analyzed through the following steps: 1) Data collection, collecting all information obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, 2) Data reduction, sorting the obtained data for summarization and systematic arrangement, 3) Data presentation, presenting the obtained data, and 4) Drawing conclusions, summarizing the research results to answer the research questions. The results of the research indicate that English teachers in Vocational High Schools in Wajo have sufficient readiness to implement the independent curriculum, as seen from four readiness indicators. Cognitive readiness, teachers understand that the independent curriculum is a competency-based learning concept, using a flexible learning approach, and integrated with the Pancasila character. Teachers understand that the planning stage is important to determine the Core Competency (CP) first, followed by indicators, learning models, and other elements. During the process, teachers try to apply as much as possible what has been prepared in the teaching module into the learning process in the classroom. Evaluation can be done through formative or summative assessment. Physical readiness, there is a variation in perception among teachers regarding the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Flexibility is considered a positive aspect, but challenges and impacts on health and physical activity are also acknowledged by some teachers. Psychological readiness, there is variation in motivating factors; the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, especially the Independent Curriculum, is considered to have a positive contribution to teachers' interest and motivation in the learning process. Although there are differences of opinion regarding additional facilities and incentives, the general conclusion indicates that the financial condition of the schools is considered good by all teachers. Attention to additional facilities and incentives can be an area that needs consideration and improvement to ensure optimal implementation of the independent curriculum.
