Abstract

This study aims to improve students' pronunciation by using cake application in class 3 at SMA Negeri 2 Pinrang. The results of this study are useful for teachers, students and future researchers. The teachers found a new way to manage the class especially in speaking class especially the pronunciation of words or sentences in English and the students found a fun way to improve their speaking skills especially in mentioning words or sentences properly and correctly, therefore future researchers would use this study as inspiration or reference for their research. This study used quantitative research by applying pre-experiment method. The population of this research was grade 3 students at SMA Negeri 2 Pinrang. Therefore, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample taken was class XII 4. This study used tests (Pre-test and Post-test) in collecting data and used scoring and classification techniques with Likert scale in analyzing it. The results of this study showed that students got 2 categories on post-test namely Good (27%), Fair (72%), but on pretest results students got 2 categories namely Fair (38%) and Poor (61%). The data was then processed with Microsoft excel and obtained a T-Test score of 9.917 while the T-Table was 2.109, which means a significant improvement in students' pronunciation. Thus the results of this study show that Cake Application was effective for improving students' pronunciation.Regarding the research's educational value, it can assist educators in teaching oral communication, particularly pronunciation, as this program has various elements that enhance these abilities.
