Abstract

Students feel uncomfortable speaking English and cannot speak in front of other people because they are not confident. Another problem faced by students in the learning process was that process only teacher-centered, so students were unable to express their opinions. The aim of this research was to describe students' speaking abilities at UPT X SMA Negeri 4 Barru, is the use of active knowledge sharing strategies was able to improve students' speaking abilities. This research used a quantitative approach, a pre-experiment with a one-group pre-test and post-test design, which was carried out at Class X SMA Negeri 4 Barru. The population in this research was 93 students in class X, namely X A and X B. The sample in this research was class XB, consisting of 31 students who were taken based on random sampling. Data calculation in this research used data analysis on the SPSS One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test. The results of this research can be seen based on the results of the analysis of data that has been collected through pre-test and post-test. The writer found an increase in students' speaking ability scores before and after treatment using active knowledge sharing strategies. The mean score of the pre-test is 64.3, while the mean score of the post-test is 81.5. The mean score of the post-test is higher than the mean score of the pre-test. The t-test value was higher than t-table value (8.812 > 2.045). So the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, meaning that the use of active knowledge sharing strategies was able to increase the speaking ability of students at Class X SMA Negeri 4 Barru and has a significant influence on students' ability to learn to speak. This can be seen from the data found and also from the situation in class when students were treated using this strategy, they were more motivated to express what they thought without any obstacles
