The sample consisted of SMP Negeri 1 Suppa students from eighth class grade, who were assessed using a pre-test to establish a baseline, followed by a treatment period where metacognitive strategies were employed, and concluding with a post-test to measure the outcomes. The result of research showed that there was significant improvement in students' reading comprehension scores, with the mean pre-test score at 58.6 and the mean post-test score at 77. The t-test analysis further supported this improvement, showing a t-test value of 2.11, which was greater than the t-table value of 1.711. These results indicate that metacognitive strategies effectively enhance students' reading comprehension. The integration of metacognitive strategies into reading instruction not only improves comprehension but also fosters a more engaged and reflective learning approach. Students become self-regulated learners, capable of planning, monitoring, and evaluating their reading processes.
