Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at LIBAM Organization of IAIN Parepare. The development of information technology has opened new opportunities in education, particularly in enhancing students' vocabulary mastery. However, little research has explored the use of the Cake application specifically for vocabulary learning. Previous studies tend to focus on general applications for learning speaking or listening skills. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Cake application for vocabulary learning. This research employed a quantitative pre-experimental design with 18 members from the 23rd LIBAM of IAIN Parepare. The study duration was one and a half months, with weekly meetings totaling six sessions, including pre-tests and post-tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired samples t-test with SPSS. The results showed that students' pre-test vocabulary mastery was relatively low, with an average score of 60.56. After the intervention using the Cake application, the average post-test score increased significantly to 89.45. The t-test value of -15.393>1.740, indicates a significant improvement in students' vocabulary mastery. This demonstrates that the Cake application can be highly effective in vocabulary learning, making it easier for students to remember vocabulary through its innovative features. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on a specific sample group, the use of a pre-experimental design, and comprehensive statistical analysis providing strong empirical evidence. This research contributes to existing literature by demonstrating the significant impact of the Cake application in a specific educational context, offering valuable insights for educators seeking to integrate technology into vocabulary instruction.
