Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the language elements that plays an important rolein the development of language skills. Communication is the goal of learning for most learners. The meaning of vocabulary is shown daily in and out of school. Alphabet games are a great way to stimulate your students’ cognitive skills and spend quality time with them while enjoying fun activities. Teacher and students teach and learn when games are fun experience. This research, the researcher used this study in a pre-experimental manner. The population was Lorong Belajar Community students were 35 students. The researcher used purposive sampling and took 17 students respondents as the sample of the research. The instrument of the research was vocabulary test which consists of multiple choice in pre-test and post-test. The researcher collected the data by giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The result showed that alphabet games can improve the vocabulary skills of students in lorong belajar Community. The mean pre-test score (48.23) was lower than the mean post-test (90.58) with level significant (α) 5% and df= 16, and the value of the table is 1,761 while the value of t-test 16,4. This means that the t-test value is larger than the t-table (8,7 ≥ 1,761). It can be concluded that using alphabet games to improve the vocabulary of students in the Lorong Belajar Community improved significantly after treatment. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hyphothesis (Ha) is accepted.
