Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the pronunciation Error Analysis and the cause of error on Fricative Sounds made by the Fourth Semester Students of English study program in the Academic Year of 2020/2021. The results of this study were beneficial for the teacher and students because they get proper information about pronunciation Error Analysis on Fricative Sounds Made by the Fourth Semester Students. The samples of this study were 20 students by simple purposive technique. The researcher conducted the research by Quantitative. The data collecting technique by test and interview. The data was analyzed by used descriptive analysis showed type of error for substitution in 9% which error that is characterized by substitute an item. The learners used the wrong form of pronunciation. The language performer uses the wrong form of pronunciation, and insertion for 22% which one or more extra sounds are added or inserted into a word and last for omission for 16% which many sounds are not produced. students find two model of error caused from the interlingua error which interference in the native language they learn. This means that the errors caused by language learners are the influences of their first language. The error could be compared to the target language to define the error. Students explicitly pronounce their mother tongue in the second language because they did not know the correct form of the sentence
