Abstract

This research disccused about how is students’ pronunciation ability of second grade of junior high school 3 Lembang, how is students’ speaking skill of second grade of junior high school 3 Lembang and Is there any influence of the students’ pronunciation ability toward students’ speaking skill at second grade of junior high school 3 Lembang. This research aims to know the students’ pronunciation ability, to know the students’ speaking skill and to know the influence of students’ pronunciation ability toward students’ speaking skill at the second grade of junior high school 3 Lembang. Design of this research was descriptive quantitative. The instrument of this research was test (pronunciation test) and speaking english test. The researcher gave seven questions to the students according to their daily activities. The population of this research were the students at the Second Grade Students of Junior High School 3 Lembang, meanwhile the sample of this research on the class VIII A, then total sample to be studied were 34. The students were selected by using cluster sampling technique. The result of the calculation of the students’ score indicate that mean score of students’ pronunciation ability was 30,50, it means that the students’ pronunciation ability was poor. Meanwhile the mean score for the students’ speaking skill was 32,29, it means that the students’ speaking skill was poor. After analyzing the data by using the simple linear regression formula by the value 0.782. it means that there is no significant influence of the students’ pronunciation ability toward the students’ speaking skill at the second grade of junior high school 3 Lembang. This indicate that the hypothesis was rejected. Because the result of the simple linear regression value is low than ttable value 1.694.
