Abstract

This study discusses about the migration of Mandar ethnic. Migration means a movement of people from one place to other place that passing out the territory bound of political unity or has administrative relative permanent. There are four factors which influents Mandar ethnic migrated to Ujung Lero, sub district of Suppa, Pinrang Regency. The first factor is to seek basic necessities of life. Secondly, they seek a new experience. Third, it is because of narrow ground. The last is that they moved with their family. Meanwhile there were two reasons why they chose Ujung Lero as a destination place. Firstly, their families has been living there for a long time ago on that place. Secondly, the level of earning and income of Ujung Lero people is higher. The approach used in this research is descriptive-qualitative. The result of analysis shows that factor of seeking basic necessities of life is on the first place with the number of respondents about 61,63%. The supporting factor of immigration caused by the willingness to have income higher with the number of respondents about 45,35%. The rest is the factor of joining the family who has been living for a long time ago on that place.
