Abstract

Delinquency behavior in adolescents is related to the tendency of adolescents to take actions that violate the rules resulting loss and damage to both themselves and others. This behavior is also found in adolescents who live in orphanages. There are efforts both preventive and curative in handling juvenile delinquency behavior in orphanages, one of them is the provision of ta'zir. Ta'zir is a kind of educative punishment. This study aims to determine the description of the implementation of ta'zir that is applied at the Orphan X Orphanage located in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java as the effort to deal with delinquency behavior of orphans. This research is a qualitative research. The subjects of this study were the orphanage builder and the orphans adolescent who were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and analysis. The validity of the data using technical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis used interactive analysis by Miles and Huberman in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions or verification. Based on the findings of the study, there were forms of delinquency behavior in the orphanage those are leaving praying, not doing daily picketing, smoking, drinking alcohol, intentionally destroying orphanage facilities, going out without permission, and violating other orphanage rules. In its implementation, ta'zir is adjusted to the delinquency behavior carried out by the orphans adolescent, such as a strong reprimand (advice), punishment in the form of cleaning the orphanage environment such as the yard, bathroom, fines, and being expelled from the hostel. The ta'zir applied by the orphanage management aims to provide a deterrent effect to the person of delinquency behavior.
