Abstract
The purpose of this study to find out the teachers strategies in teaching reading comprehension at the eight grade of SMPN 3 Parepare, and how students response toward teachers’ strategy in teaching reading comprehension. The population of the study were 258 students and English teachers . The research used random sampling technique and took 26 respondents and one of English teachers as the sample of the this research. This researcher used mix method by combining qualitative and quantitative approach.The data was collecting by using interview and questionnaire. After analyzing the data,the researcher found that there are two strategies used by the teacher. The results of this research showed that based on the questionnaire, the researcher found that a good response from students (81,39%) to the strategy used by the teacher. So that the teachers’ strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eight grade of SMPN 3 Parepare were Scaffolding and QAR (Questions Answer Relationship ).
