Abstract
Character strength is a positive trait consisting of good character that is raised by individuals to face certain conditions, such as when experiencing difficulties. Good character is a quality of an individual that keeps the individual morally good. This positive character can be seen from the feelings, thoughts, and behavior of the individual. The aims of the research to analyze the character strength of students and to identify the difference of character strength on student English Department IAIN Parepare based on gender. The research applied survey research with a quantitative approach to answer the problem of this skripsi. The research took place at IAIN Parepare. The population was the nineth-semester students of the English program, the samples of this research were 91 students of the English program who are in the ninth semester by used convenience sampling technique. The researcher used a questionnaire as an instrument for this research. The result of this research indicated that the Gratitude character is a part of Transcendence virtues. This shows that The Character Strength of Students English Department 9th semester at IAIN Parepare has Transcendence character or specific Gratitude character strength and shows that the character strength of students is still relatively high with a score of 38.4%. It was found the fact that the difference in the character strength of students’ English Department is based on gender.
