Abstract

This research, titled Using Artificial Intelligence NLP Model to Improve EFL Highschool Students’ English-Speaking Ability at MAN 2 Parepare, aims to: (1) to find and analyze the using Artificial Intelligence NLP models in improving English speaking ability among students at MAN 2 Parepare, (2) to know and analyze what factors influence the success of using Artificial Intelligence NLP models in enhancing the English speaking ability of EFL students at MAN 2 Parepare. The study used a descriptive quantitative method with 34 students. Data were collected through oral pre-tests and post-tests, and a TAM-based questionnaire via Google Forms. The oral tests measured students’ speaking skills before and after using the AI NLP model, while the questionnaire gathered their perceptions of Google Assistant in English practice. For data analysis, mean scores, percentage rates, and t-tests were used to assess improvements in speaking skills, while questionnaire responses were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to interpret perceived usefulness and ease of use. The findings revealed three key results. First, AI NLP models, such as Google Assistant, were effectively applied by providing interactive and personalized speaking practice, leading to improvements in students’ fluency, pronunciation, accuracy, and content. Second, the comparison of pre-test and post-test scores demonstrated statistically significant improvement in speaking ability, as the t-test value (2,316) exceeded the t-table value (1,697), confirming the effectiveness of the AI model. Third, the success of the implementation was influenced by two primary factors: Perceived Usefulness (PU), where 74,19% of students found the AI tool "very useful," and Perceived Ease of Use (PEoU), with 70,97% of students considering it "very easy to use." These factors enhanced the students’ engagement and motivation to practice consistently.
