Abstract

Kemampuan keaksaraan awal merupakan fondasi penting bagi perkembangan kognitif dan akademik anak. Untuk mendukung hal tersebut, pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) menjadi strategi yang efektif karena memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan, kreatif, dan bermakna melalui eksplorasi dan pemecahan masalah. Salah satu media yang efektif untuk mendukung pembelajaran literasi adalah papan huruf. Jika diintegrasikan dengan pendekatan STEAM, media ini membantu anak mengenal huruf, membentuk kata, dan memahami bunyi bahasa secara interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis STEAM untuk meningkatkan kemampuan keaksaraan anak usia dini kelompok B. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Borg and Gall melalui beberapa tahap: identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perancangan, validasi, dan revisi produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan layak, praktis, dan efektif digunakan di lembaga PAUD. Media ini melibatkan anak secara aktif dan mudah diterapkan oleh guru. Integrasi unsur STEAM berhasil menciptakan suasana belajar yang aktif dan eksploratif, serta berdampak positif terhadap perkembangan bahasa anak. Media ini dapat menjadi alternatif inovatif dalam pembelajaran keaksaraan dan diharapkan dapat terus dikembangkan serta dimanfaatkan secara luas di berbagai konteks pendidikan. Early literacy skills are a vital foundation for children’s cognitive and academic development. To support this, a STEAM-based learning approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) offers an effective strategy by providing enjoyable, creative, and meaningful learning experiences through exploration and problem- solving. One effective medium to support literacy learning is the letter board. When integrated with the STEAM approach, it helps children recognize letters, form words, and understand language sounds interactively. This study aims to develop an experimental STEAM- based learning media to enhance early literacy skills in group B children. The research follows the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall model through several stages: identifying problems, collecting data, designing, validating, and revising the product. The results indicate that the developed media is feasible, practical, and effective for use in early childhood education. It engages children actively and is easy for teachers to implement. The integration of STEAM elements successfully creates an active and exploratory learning environment that positively impacts children’s language development. This media can serve as an innovative alternative to enrich early literacy learning and is expected to be further developed and widely used in various educational contexts.
