Abstract

Riani. The Use of Speakia Application to Improve Pronunciation Skills at MTs Al-Ishlah BatuPannu Mamuju. (Supervised by Nanning) The integration of technology in English language learning has become increasingly prevalent. This research addresses the need for effective tools to enhance students’ pronunciation skills, particularly in the context of digital-based learning environments. The Speakia Application is examined as a potential resource to improve pronunciation among students. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Speakia Application to improving students’ pronunciation skills. An experimental design with a quantitative approach was employed, involving 41 seventh-grade students from VII A & B classes at MTs Al-Ishlah BatuPannu, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests using oral reading tasks. The pre-test results showed an average score of 64.05% for both experimental and control classes. After five treatment sessions using the Speakia Application, the average post-test score increased to 73.05% for the experimental class and 73.38% for the control class. These findings suggest that while the Speakia Application can be a supplementary tool in digital-based English learning, it may not be sufficiently effective on its own in significantly improving students’ pronunciation skills.
