Abstract
Indra Dzuljalali Wal Iqram. Using I Hereby Resolve Strategy To Improve Students’ Speaking Skill at SMAN 1 Parepare (Supervised by Hj. Nurhamdah) This research aims to determine the improvement of students’ speaking skills through the implementation of I Hereby Resolve strategy for Grade XI students at SMAN 1 Parepare. This strategy is designed to encourage learners to express personal resolutions verbally, thereby enhancing their fluency, confidence, and overall quality of English use in communicative contexts. This study employed a Pre experimental research design involve randomly assigning participants to experimental class used as the research sample with class XI.8 for 31 students. The experimental group was taught using the I Hereby Resolve strategy were given a pre-test and post-test to measure their speaking ability before and after the treatment. The findings indicate a significant improvement in the speaking performance which the strategy had a significant positive impact on students’ speaking performance with descriptive analysis of the experimental class showed a substantial increase in students’ achievement, with the mean rising from 54.83 (Poor Category) in the pre-test to 81.55 (Very Good Category) in the post-test while the result showed t-value of 2.459 and t tabel was 1.695 which can be conclude (2.459 > 1.695) that the implementation of I Hereby Resolve strategy strategy effectively improves students’ speaking skill by encouraging consistent practice, meaningful self-expression, and enhanced confidence in using English. The strategy is able to improve students’ speaking skill by providing structured opportunities for verbal expression and encouraging regular practice of self-formulated resolutions which helps students build confidence and develop the habit of organizing their ideas coherently before speaking.
