Abstract
Zahra Zalzabila. Developing English Grammar Handbook for Junior High School 1 Liliriaja Soppeng Regency (Supervised by Yessicka Noviasmy) This study aims to identify the grammar learning needs of 8th grade students at SMPN 1 Liliriaja, analyze the development of an English Grammar Handbook integrated with Soppeng's Kalong local culture, and examine its overall effectiveness. Employing an R&D methodology based on the ADDIE model and a mixed-methods sequential exploratory design, the research conducted a limited field trial with 20 students at class 8A SMPN 1 Liliriaja. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, questionnaires, expert validation, and pre- and post-tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, and N-Gain calculations via SPSS. Needs analysis revealed a high urgency, with 90% of students demanding a specific supplementary handbook. The developed product achieved a 98% expert validation score, categorizing it as "Very Valid". Following implementation, students' mean scores significantly increased from 45 on the pre-test to 74 on the post-test. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), accepting the alternative hypothesis (H1), while the N-Gain score of 0.53 indicated a "Medium" level of effectiveness. These findings confirm that the developed handbook is highly valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students' grammar comprehension.
