Abstract

Early adolescent self-control in the developmental transition period is crucial to fulfil their developmental role. In this research, there are adolescents with low self-control based on psychological assessments, including observations, interviews, and psychological tests. Self-management techniques based on cognitive-behavioural therapy are designed to help individuals control and turn their behaviour into a more effective way. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of self-management in improving adolescent self-control, especially disruptive behaviour during the learning process. This research method uses a single case experimental design with self-management intervention on 13-year-old adolescents with low self-control. The data were analysed descriptively which described changes in the subject's behaviour through self-monitoring, self-evaluation and self-reinforcement. The results showed that the subject experienced a mindset change by considering his behaviour more so that it increased self-control. The impact found was a decrease in the frequency of speaking without permission while in the classroom.
