Abstract

Reading comprehension is one of the essential skills which should be mastered by students who want to achieve their proficiency in English. Actually, reading is a cognitive process where a reader involves in the mental process of knowing, learning, and understanding things. Reading is not the only process to read a text, but the important thing is the ability to understand and interpret the meaning of the text. Edutainment is a learning process designed so that the content of education and entertainment can combined harmoniously to create learning that is alot of fun. This study was aimed to see the Increasing Reading Skill at MTsN 2 Sidrap. the objective of this research is to get the empirical data of the differences between students’ score of reading test who were taught by using Edutainment and to know how Edutainment in teaching reading. The population of this research consist of 165 students and The total sample that will be used by researchers is 62 students from two different classes, namely the control class and the experimental class, each class consisting of 31 students. The researcher will use test as an instrument to collect the data. The researcher will give the text about recount text and the students can find out the information by using Edutainment media. The purpose of this test is to know the students’ comprehension in reading. Based on data analysis, if to (t-observation) is higher than tt (t-table),(2.98> 1.67), the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It should be concluded that the implementation of Edutainmet is able to improve the eighth grade student’a reading comprehension at MTs N 2 Sidrap.But, both control class and experimental class get improvement in each posttest. Furthermore, the students in the experimental class achieve higher score in their post-test than the score of students in control class.
