Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the Students Difficulties in speaking English and to find out the dominant factors encountered the students at the First Grade of SMKN 1 Parepare Majoring Marketing Program. The result of the study are beneficial for teachers and students because they will get information about students difficulties in speaking English and it can be a reference to find out a suitable methodology in teaching process.

The samples of the study were 21 students using total sampling technique. The researcher conducted the research in Mix Method approach. The data was collecting using interview and questionnaire.

After analyzing the data, the researcher found that in generally, students still very difficulties refered to the cognitive, affective and performance factors, for cognitive factors refered on vocabulary mastery and pronouncing word, for affective influenced from the condition of the audiens and for performance factor influenced by habbit, experiences, and communication performance, The researcher found that the dominant difficulties factor encountered by students difficulties in speaking English was affective factor, it refered from the students fear, afraid and doubt when speaking.

The result found that students’ faced all the aspect refers to theory which related to their speaking performance at class.
