Abstract

Writing as receptive skill has important part in English. Writing is one of the activities that regularly do in life since we had learn to write early in school. Writing is a skill that can be learn through practice, many people believed that writing is more likely a natural gift rather than skill. Writing is a way to foster reflective thinking, especially if the learners are engaged in the act of explaining and defending their ideas to their peers. The blended method becomes an important alternative because the teacher can use two methods in the classroom are demonstrative and collaborative method in teaching writing. Collaboration is defined as people working together to achieve goals. The research belongs to Pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test. The instrument of the research was applied writing test pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research was VIII.1 class which are consisted of 30 students. The researcher used descriptive quantitative to analyze the result of pre-test and post-test. Based on statistical analysis showed that the students mean score of pre-test was 55,63 and their score of post-test was 60,57. The result of in this research it indicates that after giving treatment for six times through Blended Method, the students’ ability in writing narrative paragraph is increasing. The students lacked the English writing skill in Narrative Paragraph when the researcher did the pre-test, and after treatment the students writing skill in Narrative Paragraph increased significant. It can be seen from the post-test result that the students are active in the class. The research used a t-test to calculated data. The result of pre-test and post-test of t-test value (8,28) which the result of t-table value (2,045). The results of this research prove that by the application Blended Method were effective to be used in teaching the students writing skill and it means that null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted. It can be conclude that Blended Method be used to improve students writing skill significantly.
