Abstract
Penyelenggaraan pendidikan di Indonesia dilakukan dalam tiga jalur, yaitu pendidikan formal, nonformal, dan informal. Ketiganya merupakan trilogi pendidikan yang secara sinergis membangun bangsa melalui pembangunan sumber daya insani dari tidak tahu menjadi tahu, dari tahu menjadi terampil, dan dari terampil menjadi ahli. Guru yang profesional merupakan faktor penentu proses pendidikan yang bermutu, sehingga guru harus mampu menemukan jati diri dan mengaktualkan diri. Pemberian prioritas yang sangat rendah pada pembangunan pendidikan selama beberapa puluh tahun terakhir telah berdampak buruk bagi kehidupan bangsa dan bernegara. Guru profesional adalah orang yang memiliki kemampuan dan keahlian khusus dalam bidang kependidikan sehingga ia mampu melakukan tugas dan fungsinya sebagai guru dengan kemampuan maksimal. The education system in Indonesia is done in three lines, namely formal education, non-formal and informal. All three are trilogy education synergistically build the nation through the development of human resources from not knowing to knowing, from knowing to skilled, and of skillful an expert. Professional teachers is an important determinant of quality education process, so that the teacher should be able to discover the identity and self-actualize. Giving a very low priority on the development of education over the last twenty years has been bad for the nation and state. Professional teachers are the people who have the ability and expertise in the field of education so that he is able to perform its duties and functions as a teacher with a maximum capacity.
